I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of

His Majesty's Treasury Sir Charles Walkor's letter of

the 6th February, 193), (C.. in 0. 012/30/282a) and

subsequent seri-official correspondence relative to the

proposed removal of the aval Mayazines from Hong Kong to

Stonecutters Island.

The Scheme which was proviously sanctioned for

an exchange of properties with the Houg Long Government

has not matured, and it is now proposed that the Naval

Magazines should be removed altogether from Hong Kong and

that the land and buildings evacuated should be handed

over to the Colony. The Colonial Government are

prepared to pay two million dollars in return for the

surrender of Arsenal Yard and Zellett's Island, nul

though complete details are not yet worked out the ords

alternative accommodation (which under the washington
